Was sick the past week, and finally can get back to my blog postings that is starting to pile up..

After strolling in the hot, humid afternoon and checking out the Mummy exhibition, I was so beat that I couldn't walk any further to the Marina Square/Esplanade for dinner. So we went out to the outdoor casual dining spots @MBS, as Au Chocolat was full that evening.
We happily sat down and placed our order. Later then we realise, this place has no signboard, thus until the bill came to us than we know its name - South Coast!
South Coast is an Australian bistro, and opens until late at night. As many locals are aware, majority of the restaurants in MBS are mid-range and above, higher-end in pricing especially. Except for South Coast, I can say that their pricing is alright. You can get a decent pint of chilled beer from the tap (3 types to choose from) and affordable pizza to go with it. Who knows you might be able to catch a glimpse of the seasonal Broadway musical team crew during late nights?! (There are many autographed Broadway musical posters decorating the interiors of the bistro.)
[P.S: Try to stay away from those colourful floral "lanterns" hanging from the ceiling, as my eyes caught many spiders' webs. Almost deter me from ordering my meal.]

Food Menu at a glance. The main categories just enough for you to make choices, and not get overwhelmed.
Salt & Pepper Calamari - Something different from the usual calamari you can get anywhere else. It is made into the shape of rectangular chunks (unlike the usual circular hollow shape), stuffed with big squids, then fried into golden crisps. Yet the texture was crunchy and tender at the same time! The outer light golden 'clothing' was well-done, adhering nicely and completely around the entire squid piece. The ideal of a bite-size! Of cos' you have to eat this side dish while it is still hot.
The 5-O Pizza - It is made up of prosciutto (= salted ham), bacon and pineapple. Their pizza is one of my favourite types, thin crust. The combined taste of these 3 key toppings with appropriate cheese is heavenly! *Thumbs up*
[ My Verdict ]: Taste of the pizza and beer is a great match, but due to the not-so-convenient location and parking constraint, it may not be so accessible (for it is another 7-10 minutes' walk from the Bayfront MRT Station). However, I would still recommend tourists to pop by if you are stopping by MBS for musical play or special event/exhibition. Now that we know there is such an affordable bistro, having lunch/dinner @MBS is more considerable before/after an anticipated theatre play (cos' the Level 1 Foodcourt food really sucks!). South Coast also have brunch menu until 12pm.
